If you can’t find an anything to do in Howard County on a weekend, you may be living under a rock. There are always plenty of events happening here, especially when the weather is nice. Here are our top ways for dads to find Howard County events.
The first stop is right here at Howard County Dads Events to see what we’re hosting.
With so many options, here are a few ways I have been able to screen out the noise and quickly discover age-appropriate family-friendly events to fill a weekend with dad.
1. Hulafrog Laurel-Columbia
Hulafrog curates a list of local kid-friendly happenings, tagged by age & type. They also review local businesses and detail their services. There is a local branch that is based out of Laurel but really covers all of Howard County.
To stay in the loop, subscribe to their email newsletter. Don’t miss their Weekend Guide, a weekly rundown of local events just for families with little children.
2. Facebook
If you’re on Facebook, searching through the posted events is the best option when looking for something to do in a pinch. On their site or app, search for nearby functions, filter by time range. I frequently use these filters: “This Weekend” or “Today”.
This usually results in a high quantity of results not particularly, high quality. Filtering by age or even kid-friendly listings isn’t as straightforward as expected.
3. Visit Howard County Maryland
Visit Howard County Maryland is our local tourism site that always has dozens of functions listed on their site each week. Their blog articles and featured events do a great job of highlighting things you wouldn’t want to miss.
To get rid of the endless list wine & painting sessions, filter by the “Family Fun” category. Like everything else on this list, once you find something of interest, it usually points you back to a Facebook event.
You can subscribe to HOCO SMS to get text message updates for local happenings.
