Review: In-Home Baking Lessons for Children

Baking with Chef Emily

Chef Emily specializes in bringing private baking lessons to your home.
When we explained the concept to our two preschoolers, they were pumped up about baking their cakes and meeting Chef Emily. She arrived with everything she needed from mixing bowls down to paper towels. Surprisingly, our excitement was topped by hers. She quickly focused on the kids to make a connection and get their attention. From then on she didn’t lose their attention for the whole session. If I had to guess, I’d think she was a seasoned educator or someone who always works with kids. She guided the boys through their layer cakes from scratch, icing and all.
I had no idea my kids could see a task through without an occasional diversion or meltdown. It was a long lesson at about 2 1/2 hours, but she pulled it off so well. When there was a downtime during baking and cleaning, Chef Emily was ready with coloring worksheets and crayons.
I expected a great pastry chef that would need me to hover in case the kids got out of hand or lost interest. I had it all wrong. Her personality was fun. She had us all smiling and giggling through the process. With a great blend of humor, patience, and some serious baking skills, Chef Emily knocked it out of the park.

This was a great family experience. As long as the kids had a great time we were happy, but then there was the cake. Cake is cake, right? Nope! It was really good! The cake tasted outstanding, and I know my way around a pastry or two.
Simply put, this was one of those great family moments that I believe the kids will remember for a very long time. It will raise your expectations of fun. It’s well worth the dough. Dad jokes aside; I highly recommend booking private baking lessons with Chef Emily.

Full disclosure – We received this baking lesson for free in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed here are my own and have not been influenced in any way.
